On Friday, May 13, 2022, Dawn G. Sparacino, 86, formerly of Scranton and Taylor, passed away at Pleasant Valley Manor in Stroudsburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. “Ace” Sparacino in 2006.
Born in Dickson City, daughter of the late William and Ethel G. Miller Horrocks, she attended Scranton public schools and had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry for many years. There she learned the trade that would become her passion. She was an artist in the needle arts and created many beautiful items. It gave her great joy to present family and friends with her beautiful quilts, afghans, numerous clothing items and drapes. She welcomed any challenge to create and often made something beautiful by just looking at a picture.
Her legacy is a family who loved her deeply. Surviving are daughters, Ann Rapoch Super and husband David of New Bern, NC; Sandra Matthews and husband Barry of Concord, NC; Kathleen Sparacino Giannone of Throop; and Joanne Gonzalez and husband Marc, North Abington Township. She had ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved family gatherings and entertained many at Pleasant Valley Manor with her funny stories and jokes. She enjoyed life and made the most of her situation.
She was also preceded in death by her 8 siblings and granddaughter Adrienne Wignot.
A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton. Carl J. Savino, Jr., Supervisor.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Entombment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
