Ernest Stolten, Sr. Obituary

Ernest J. Stolten, Sr., 84, of Scranton, died Thursday, September 22nd in Dunmore Healthcare Center.  He and his wife, the former Barbara Ann Dembroski, would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on October 12th.

Born in Dickson City, son of the late Ernest F. and Mary Kotsala Stolten, he was a graduate of Penn State University and went on to obtain his master’s degree in education from Temple University.  He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Holy Family Council #13025. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ernest J. Stolten, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Scranton; daughters Barbara Masko and husband John of Olyphant, and Lynn Rahman and husband Shafique of Queens, NY; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Eric, Matthew, and Daniel Stolten, Louis Ferri, Allia Josephs and Layla Rahman, and Michael and Catrina Masko; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother Frank Stolten and wife Pam of Orangevale, CA; his sister Mary Catherine Leo of Scranton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was also preceded in death by his sisters Anna Mae Woytas and Rosemarie Stolten.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, 949 Scranton St., West Scranton. 

Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. 

Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
