James Dixon Obituary

James C. “Jim” Dixon, 81, of Grand Prairie TX, passed away Thursday, June 23 following a two-year battle with cancer. His wife of 13 years is the former Ruth Ann Draper and was the husband of the late Theresa “Terri” Gay Dixon for 42 years.

Born February 11, 1941, son of the late William Jr. and Evelyn Dixon.

James was a member of West Fork Presbyterian Church served as an Elder of the Session and a member of the choir.

Employed in the family businesses Dixon Coal and Blacktopping, Dixon Paving and Sealcoating and Dixon Brothers Inc. until 1987 when he became the asphalt paving equipment sales manager for Neal Mfg. In 1991 he relocated to Lancaster, PA to become the regional paving and equipment sales manager for Ingersoll Rand. In 1992 Ingersoll Rand transferred him to Dallas Texas as the asphalt, paving compaction and milling equipment regional sales manager for the six state south central region of Ingersoll Rand.

Surviving is a daughter, Joanne Paradise (Joseph), Moscow, his sons, Timothy, Lancaster, PA; James Jr. (Samantha), Arlington TX; five grandchildren, Joseph Paradise (Kaitlyn) Springbrook Twp.; Heather Paradise, Wilkes-Barre; Matthew Paradise (Blaire), Duryea; Christopher and Zachary Dixon, Arlington, TX; two great grandsons, Joseph and James Paradise, Springbrook Twp.; stepdaughter, Natalie Thomas (JR), Dallas TX; two step granddaughters, Madeline and Caroline Thomas, Dallas TX; brothers, Richard, Liberty, NC and John (Beth), Covina, CA; a sister Joanne Carlin, Chinchilla, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by a  brother, William III.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11AM in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with services by Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser. Friends may call Saturday morning from 10-11AM.
