James Masters, 84, of Dunmore entered the gates of Heaven on Friday surrounded by his loving family. His wife of almost 63 years is the former Marie Litterio. Born January 5th, 1938, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Mary and Earl Masters. Jim was a graduate of Scranton Central Highschool and the University of Scranton. He held multiple positions at GE, RCA, Harris and Intersil where he retired after 39 years of service.
He was diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2010. Researching and learning every little detail about this disease, he went on to be an advocate and ambassador for Pulmonary Fibrosis giving many speeches at various local places. He was recognized by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and was responsible for having September designated in Pennsylvania as Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness month in an effort to raise awareness, stress the importance of disease education, enhance support and increase funding. Jim was definitely the example of a perfect loving husband, father and grandfather. All his love and attention went to his family every day of his life. He was very involved in all of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Jim was a very active coach, managing teams at Dunmore Little League, Dunmore Biddy Basketball and Schautz Teener League.
