Pearl Maro Obituary

Pearl Maro, 99, of Scranton, died Monday evening at the Gardens of Green Ridge in Scranton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Maro, in 1994.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Paul and Mary Campione, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore.  Prior to retirement, she worked as a machine operator in the local garment industry and was a member of the ILGWU.  Pearl loved her family, trips to Las Vegas and other casinos and bingo.  She was also well known for her excellent cooking, baking and entertaining.  Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she lavished her love on all of us every day of our lives.  There was never a time that she would refuse to partake in a shopping trip, day at the casino, babysitting for her grandchildren or anything else that came up.  She enjoyed life to the fullest and was happiest when she was out and about.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at the Gardens of Green Ridge for their extraordinary care provided to our mother during her stay there.  Also, many thanks to Dr. Barry Minora and his staff for their many years of concern for our mother.

Surviving are her children, William Maro and wife Mary of Pittsburgh, Mary Ann Maro and companion Marc Lucarelli of Scranton, and Diane Puhalla and husband James of Jefferson Township; grandchildren Heather Prehotsky and husband Nicholas, and Ashley Reedy and husband Jordan; great-grandchildren Ivyanna and Jackson Prehotsky; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson LoganNicholas Prehotsky; as well as her sisters Lillian Cigna, Ann Serrian and infant Mary; and her brothers Morris Campione and Thomas Fredericks.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Dunmore with interment following in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Contributions in Pearl’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore, 18512; or to the Patients Fund at the Gardens of Green Ridge, 2751 Boulevard Ave., Scranton, 18509.
